SROBOT COMPETITION

“PLAY ROBOT – LEARN PASCAL” –  VI EDITION 2017-2018

SRobot is a non-commercial project, developed by SaigonTech in order to help high school students study Information Technology. It also builds the interest in IT for students and attract workforce in IT industry. From 2012 SRobot “Play Robot – Learn Pascal” has been organized annually. SRobot 2017-2018 is the 6th edition of the competition, below are the agenda of the competition:

  1. Implementation:

Center of Information and Education Program (from Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training) is responsible for connecting with High School Education Bureau, SaigonTech, Quang Trung Software City Development Company Limited co-organized the competition SaigonTech SRobot “Play Robot – Learn Pascal”.

  1. Information of the competition

Using Arduino. There are 4 categories in the competition: SRobot Inter-school, SRobot Open, SRobot Incubator, Creative SRobot Clip. Build app for cybernertics using Arduino (SRobot Inter-school, SRobot Open will take places at the same time). SRobot Incubator is for students from Junior High Schools only. SRobot Inter-school, SRobot Open are for students from high schools, students can apply for one of the two categories.

    • Stage 1: Opening
  • Oct 3rd: Opening ceremony, announce regulations of the competition.
  • Oct 4th – 11th: Schools register for teams and prepare to join the training.
    • Stage 2: Implementation
  • Training for teachers and students. Each training course lasts for 2 days. When there is enough registration, the system will close automatically registration for that course.
  • For junior high school students, maximum amount registration of each course is 90 persons, there are 2 courses
  • Course 1: Oct 28th and 29th, 2017
  • Course 2: Nov 4th and 5th, 2017
  • For high school students, maximum amount registration of each course is 60 persons, there are 5 courses
  • Course 1: Nov 11th and 12th, 2017
  • Course 2: Nov 18th and 19th, 2017
  • Course 3: Nov 25th and 26th, 2017
  • Course 4: Dec 2nd and 3rd, 2017
  • Course 5: Dec 9th and 10th, 2017
  • From Dec 20th to Dec 25th, 2017: Schools register teams for all categories.
  • Jan 3rd, 2018: Publish the contest requirements for the Qualifying Round.
  • Feb 3rd and 4th, 2018: Qualifying Round takes place (Location will be published in advance).
  • Feb 26th to Mar 10th, 2018: Receive Creative SRobot Clips.
  • Feb 12th, 2018: Publish the contest requirements for SRobot Inter-School category, SRobot Incubator category.
  • Mar 18th, 2018: SRobot Inter-School, SRobot Incubator and Final Round of SRobot Open takes place.
    • Stage 3: Competition summation and awards
  • Mar 19th, 2018: Publish results of the Creative SRobot Clip category.

  • In case of necessity, Organizing Committee may request Schools to make a list of participating teams and get confirmed by the School’s Board of Management (signatures and seals). Then, School scan and send by mail the registration form to the person in charge.

Details of Competition

Detail Participant Requirement of the competition Implementation
1.   SRobot Inter-school Students from high schools, in Ho Chi Minh City (excluding students from gifted Schools)Contestants register for the SRobot Open Contest in teams.Each school may enter 04 teams in the contest.Each team may have a maximum of 03 team members.The number of teams in the contest is limited to first 150 registered teams. The questions of qualifying rounds are provided 30 days in advance. The teams that pass qualifying round, will enter final round.The questions of final round are provided 30 days in advance.  Unexpected factors will be provided in the final day. Then, each team has 90 minutes to adjust the source code for the robot to work properly with the new factors of the test.The teams will make code based on the contest questions (programming languages: Pascal, C/C++). Submit the codes to Organizing Committee. Organizing Committee will load the codes into the teams’ Robot. All teams compete in one day. Qualifying round will sort 16 teams to enter Final round.
2. SRobot Open Students from high schools, in Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces.Contestants register for the SRobot Open Contest in teams.Each school may enter 04 teams in the contest.Each team may have a maximum of 03 members.There is no limitation on the number of teams in the contest. The questions of qualifying rounds are provided 30 days in advance. The teams that pass qualifying round, will enter final round.The questions of final round are provided 30 days in advance. Unexpected factors will be provided in the final day. Then, each team has 90 minutes to adjust the source code for the robot to work properly with the new factors of the test.The teams will make code based on the contest questions (programming languages: Pascal, C/C++). Submit the codes to Organizing Committee. Organizing Committee will load the codes into the teams’ Robot.Each team uses their own Robot and must register this Robot to the Organizing Committee before the contest. Qualifying Round: team that finish the requirement will enter Final Round
3.  Creative SRobot Clip. Create clip controlling Robot using Arduino Students from high schools, in Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces.Contestants register in team.Each team may have a maximum of 03 members.There is no limitation on the number of teams in the contest. Teams of Contestants will shoot and edit clips, then send the clips to Organizing Committee. Valid clips will be posted on SaigonTech official fanpage. Contestants will send original video (or the link of your original video) and the code of the robots in your video to: srobot.saigontech@gmail.comThe minimum length of the video is 1 minute; the maximum length of the video is 4 minutes. The content of the video must be bright, positive and no offensive content to any individual / organization or violating any intellectual property rights. The organization board will not accept any clip using use more than 50% of material from other clips posted on the internet before or from any other sources. Participate online
